A small SUV with a big achievement
The EV2 is one of just seven cars chosen for the final by an independent panel of leading motoring journalists from across Europe. It’s a fantastic achievement for Kia’s most compact dedicated electric SUV, and another reason to take a closer look at what it has to offer.
This latest nomination also makes the EV2 the ninth Kia model to reach the Car of the Year shortlist. Kia’s run of consecutive finalists began with the EV6, which took home the title in 2022, followed by the Niro, EV9, EV3 and EV4.
Now it’s the EV2’s turn to carry that momentum into the 2027 competition.
Electric driving designed around everyday life
Designed, developed and built in Europe, the EV2 brings the experience of Kia’s larger electric models into a smaller SUV that’s easy to fit into everyday life.
There’s a spacious, flexible interior, useful connectivity and technology, and a focus on keeping journeys comfortable and refined. Built at Kia’s plant in Žilina, Slovakia, it’s also the brand’s second fully electric model produced there, following the EV4 Hatchback.
For drivers considering the move to electric, the EV2 offers an accessible introduction to the Kia EV range without losing the practicality you’d expect from an SUV.
What happens next?
The finalists will now go through further evaluation and a final jury vote, with the winner announced at the Brussels Motor Show on 8 January 2027. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for the EV2!
